Part of the Borderless map series created in quarantine during the COVID-19 pandemic, these maps are a process of looking at the world through the eyes of a virus where borders are a man-made construct that have no effect on containing the spread of a global virus. This series of maps are created with segments of maps from around the world that I have collected stitched together with wildlife migration maps and poetry stitched together with gold leaf. This whole series re-imagines a world where we can stitch our hearts back together with compassion and realize our greatest strength in our collective empathy.

Set upon a map of Beirut that I saved from 2003/2004 when I lived and worked there briefly, the city map is re-imagined with migration maps of sea turtles and tiger sharks mingle with the north pole and maps from Ireland, France, Cambodia, Namibia, and trail maps from Moab, Dillon, and beyond connected with gold leaf. The map also includes a US stamp from 1982 and Afghan money. The map looks at life in the time of COVID through the lens of longing, seeking, and waiting. Re-imagining the world we could enter back into once we emerge when we realize that our connection isn't a matter of timing as we once thought, but perhaps location.

These are special edition prints from the originals. This one is sized 30x21.5 inches based on the original city map size and signed and dated from quarantine in Frisco, Colorado in May, 2020.
